Position Overview:

OnBoard Legal is seeking an experienced Legal Recruiter to focus on partner-level searches. This position is primarily dedicated to handling exclusive retained searches, with a particular focus on recruiting high-level partners for our law firm clients. The recruiter will work closely with the firm’s leadership team to identify, recruit, and place top legal talent at the partner level. This is a high-end recruiting position, offering a unique opportunity for someone with experience in attorney recruitment to work with prestigious firms and earn unlimited compensation.
This is not a contingency recruiting role. Instead, the recruiter will focus on a retainer-based fee structure, meaning you will receive a steady income through monthly retainers as well as successful placements, in addition to salary and benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner Level Recruiting: Manage the recruitment process for leading attorneys nationwide, mostly for partner-level placements, with an occasional search for in-house and associate positions.
  • Exclusive, Retained Searches: Work on exclusive, retainer-based searches where OnBoard Legal has an exclusive agreement with the client, ensuring a strong partnership and a high-quality, tailored recruitment experience.
  • Candidate Sourcing and Outreach: Identify and approach top-tier attorney candidates, leveraging existing networks, industry knowledge, and advanced sourcing techniques to identify the best fits for each client search.
  • Consultative Approach: Provide guidance to client executives and candidates throughout the recruiting process, including advising on market trends, compensation structures, and firm dynamics.
  • Negotiation & Closing: Work with client executive on candidate negotiations, from initial discussions through offer and acceptance, ensuring successful outcomes for both clients and candidates.
  • Pipeline Management: Build and maintain a pipeline of high-quality candidates for current and future searches, staying engaged with potential candidates even when searches are not immediately open.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with OnBoard Legal’s internal team, contributing to strategic goals and ensuring a seamless process for clients and candidates.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in legal recruiting, preferably with experience in partner-level placements.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the legal industry, particularly in recruiting for law firms. Familiarity with key trends, compensation models, and law firm structures is essential.
  • Strong Network: A well-established network of attorney contacts at the partner level or an ability to quickly build such relationships.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with senior-level professionals.
  • Sales & Negotiation Skills: Strong sales acumen and the ability to close deals while maintaining professionalism and integrity.
  • Highly Organized: Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple searches and clients simultaneously.
  • Proactive and Results-Driven: A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a proven track record of success in meeting goals and exceeding targets.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree is required. Law degree (JD) or experience in a legal environment is a plus.
